Terms of Service

The short version
Signal Sonics is a free directory and player for internet radio, podcasts and audiobooks. We do not broadcast anything: every stream you hear comes from the broadcaster's own servers, and we only help you find it and press play. You can use it without an account. If you make one, you can delete it, and everything about you goes with it.
Who provides this service
Signal Sonics is operated from Pontevedra, Spain, by an individual trading as Signal Sonics rather than by a registered company, so there is no company number. You can reach us at questions@signalsonics.com.
The stations are not ours
This is the most important thing on this page. The catalogue is built from Radio Browser, a community-maintained directory, and the audio is served by each broadcaster. We do not own, host, control, review or endorse what a station plays.
That has consequences worth stating plainly:
- A station can stop working at any time, and many do. We check streams continuously and hide the ones our checks find dead — at the time of writing that is around a quarter of the catalogue — but a station can break between checks, or work for us and not for you.
- A station may be unavailable where you are. Some broadcasters restrict listening by country. We cannot tell that apart from a dead stream from where we check.
- We cannot vouch for what is broadcast. If a station carries something unlawful or objectionable, tell us and we will look at it, but the responsibility for what is broadcast rests with the broadcaster.
- Station details can be wrong. Names, logos, genres and countries come from the directory and from broadcasters themselves.
If you are a broadcaster and you want your station removed from the directory, contact us at questions@signalsonics.com and we will remove it.
Your account
You do not need an account to listen. One gives you sync across devices, playlists, friends and listening rooms. If you make one:
- Give accurate details, and keep your password to yourself.
- It is yours alone — do not share it or let somebody else use it.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. See Children below.
- You can delete it whenever you like, in Settings → Account. That removes your profile, your synced library, your friendships and your conversations. It is not reversible.
What you write here
Some parts of the app let you write things: a nickname, a message to a friend, a report that a station is broken, a feature request, a station submission. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it you give us permission to store it and show it where it is meant to be shown — a message to the friend you sent it to. A feature request is read only by the people who run Signal Sonics.
Two things outlive a deleted account, and they are worth knowing before you write them. A feature request is kept with your name taken off it, because the idea can still shape what we build and the link to you is the part that is personal. A moderation report about a message stays as a record of the decision, with the people in it replaced by a placeholder. Everything else goes.
What you may not do
- Break the law, or use this to help somebody else break it.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate or abuse anybody — in a message, a room, a nickname or a feature request.
- Submit stations you know to be broken, misleading, or pretending to be somebody else's station.
- File reports you know to be untrue. Reports decide whether a station is hidden from everybody.
- Scrape, hammer or automate the service beyond ordinary personal use, or try to get around its limits.
- Try to break, probe or gain unauthorised access to any part of it.
- Re-broadcast or redistribute streams reached through this service.
Moderation
We moderate, and these are not idle powers — they are used. We may hide a station from everybody, remove something written here, or suspend an account, where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken or somebody is being harmed. Every ban of a station records who made it and why.
If you think we got it wrong, write to questions@signalsonics.com and a person will look at it again.
The service is free, and offered as it is
There is no charge, no advertising that interrupts you, and no subscription. In exchange we do not promise that the service will always be available, that any particular station will work, or that it will be free of faults. We build it carefully and we fix what we find, but we cannot promise other people's servers will be there tomorrow.
We may change, suspend or stop any part of it. If we are stopping something significant we will say so in the app first, with enough notice to export anything you want to keep (Settings → Data).
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK, your statutory rights are not affected by anything on this page.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for what a broadcaster transmits, for a station being unavailable, or for indirect or consequential loss arising from using a free service.
Other people's services
Some features reach other companies, each with their own terms: Radio Browser for the catalogue, LibriVox for public-domain audiobooks, and Apple for podcast listings and song artwork. What they receive and when is set out in the privacy policy.
Children
You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian where the law where you live requires it.
Children under 14 may not create an account. That does not stop them listening to what is publicly available here, with a parent's supervision and subject to the law where they live — listening needs no account at all. If you believe a child under 14 has created one, contact us at questions@signalsonics.com and we will remove it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top always says when they last changed. If a change materially affects your rights we will tell you in the app rather than quietly re-dating this page, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. If you do not, you can delete your account.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Subject to mandatory consumer-protection and jurisdiction rules, any dispute arising out of or relating to them goes to the competent courts of Pontevedra, Spain. Nothing here deprives a consumer of the mandatory rights or protections of the law of the country they habitually live in, and you may bring a claim in your own country's courts.
EU consumers can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform, though we would much rather you wrote to us first.
