Privacy on this website

This page describes signalsonics.com, the marketing site you are reading now. The app at app.signalsonics.com has its own, separate privacy policy — it does considerably more than this page does, and is covered there.

What this site collects

Nothing, unless you say yes. This site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser by default. The fonts are served from this domain rather than a font provider, so loading this page does not tell anybody else that you did.

The one optional thing is Google Analytics, which tells us which pages get visited and whether people go on to open the app — nothing about who you are. It is off until you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit, and rejecting it, or never answering, means it never runs. You can change your answer at any time by clearing this site's storage for your browser and reloading.

What your browser tells the server anyway

Serving any page requires your browser to connect, so the hosting provider (Firebase Hosting, operated by Google) processes the ordinary technical details of that request, including your IP address. That is how the web works rather than a choice this site makes, and it is not used here to build any profile of you.

If you accept analytics

Accepting loads Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com, google-analytics.com), which then receives the pages you visit on this site, your approximate location from your IP address, and your device and browser type. Google's own privacy policy covers what they do with that. We use it in aggregate — which pages get read, whether visitors go on to open the app — never to build a profile of you individually.

The app is different

The app stores your favourites, playlists and settings, can sync them to an account, and has optional features — error diagnostics, usage analytics, sharing what you are listening to, and personalised suggestions — that are each off until you turn them on.

Its analytics go further than this site's, and differently: as well as which parts of the app get opened, it counts which stations get played, for how long, and whether playback worked — so stations that are quietly broken can be found. That side is counted on our own servers rather than by Google, and it is kept as counts, with nothing stored alongside them that could say which of those plays was yours. All of it is described in the app's own privacy policy, reachable from its settings.
